Slayed that night!
Barracougar - Trivia Master

Lainie Chait is a writer, comedian, author, radio host and podcast producer with a passion for finding humour in life’s messiest moments. She turns life’s chaos into comedy, wisdom, and rhythm, one gut-led adventure at a time.

Her interest in comedy started in 2010, when she did Mandy Nolan’s comedy course in Byron Bay, then moved to Melbourne in 2015 to see where the open mic circuit would take her. They say you need 10,000 gigs to become a great comedian, Lainie’s done 1,000 in front of real people, and 9,000 more in her fantasy world and to her cats.

She has a natural ability to make people laugh and feel comfortable, and when she’s on stage, you’re with her every step of the wacky stories she tells about her dysfunctionally functional life.

Her journey living with and trying to escape a diagnosis of epilepsy has made for some hilarious, jaw-dropping stories. She’s the author of Electro Girl, which she later adapted into a sold out one woman show at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, and is currently developing a television dramedy inspired by her lived experience.

Got an event that needs a bit of chaos, charm and a room that can’t stop laughing?

Locally I’m is known as The Barracougar, my trivia alter ego, and honestly one of the things I’m most infamous for around Byron Bay.

I had someone once scream across a packed Berlin airport “Barracougar yo!”.

I run two weekly trivia nights with raw, comedic energy and a genuine love of keeping people entertained and coming back for more, the kind of night where a packed pub somehow still feels like everyone’s crammed into your living room having a laugh together.

Expect proper games, a few curveballs, and a vibe people keep coming back for, week after week. I’m also happy to MC the whole night if you need someone to hold the room start to finish.
